Metal Material Directional Control

In metal production, the material is sent through a production process. This allows for the metal to be shaped via forging, extrusion, or some other process. The shaping of metal is essential for producing tubes, structural beams and other products that come from metal. Producers are under constant pressure to increase profitability and quality while decreasing costs and environmental impact.

Continuous Casting. Continuous Solutions.

The process of hot rolling involves metalworking above the recrystallization temperature of the metal being worked. After the grains deform during this process, they will recrystallize if the temperature is low enough. If this recrystallizing occurs, the result is a microstructure that prevents the metal from hardening.  If this were to occur during the production of a steel beam for buildings, it could be a disaster.

Most metalwork starts out as large pieces of metal such as slabs, billets or blooms. These products are often the result of continuous casting operations, and the products are generally fed directly into the rolling mill at the proper temperature. In a small metal production environment, the metal starts at room temperature and heating is required via gas or oil-fired soaking pits. In some cases, induction heating is used.

As this material is worked, the temperature needs to be maintained above the recrystallization temperature. Usually, this is 50-100 C or 90 to 180 F.  If the temperature drops below this range, then it must be reheated before it can continue to be worked.

Metals processed this way generally have little directionality, however in some instances, non-metal particles will impart directionality on the metal. This results in a non-uniform shape. The metal is still of good quality, but the mill scale covering the metal needs to be removed.

Maximized service life

Athalon Filter

Pall’s Athalon hydraulic and lube oil filters offer the ultimate performance. These filters combine Betax(c)≥2000 rated, stress-resistant technology and a full range of housings to provide superior performance. Athalon filters are laid over pleat (LOP) geometry.  This maximizes the filtration area, increases flow handling, reduces filter element size, and improves fluid cleanliness across the filtration process.

Additionally, this filter improves real-world performance with anti-static construction, preventing static damage to the filter element, housing, or fluids. Athalon’s cageless construction makes it 60% lighter than comparable filter elements and reduces disposal costs.  Athalon filter elements can be incinerated or shredded, in addition to crushing. The filter is simple and inexpensive to install or maintain because it uses common port and mounting interfaces.

A filter’s ability to sustain fluid cleanliness for its entire service life is a critical measure of performance. Athalon is the only filter that continues to provide quality fluid cleanliness, even late in service life.

Pall’s Coralon Series

Pall’s Coralon series has been demonstrated to produce 15X cleaner fluids and 16X more consistent performance over the service life of the filter, providing a savings of 20% in overall filtration cost. The Coralon filter produces consistent performance for the full service life. Testing shows no drop in efficiency or performance, unlike competitor products, unless the filter is blocked. Blocking means that the filter has been working to remove contaminants from the product being filtered. It is the most advanced filter media available for lube and hydraulic fluid applications on the market today.

Red 1000 Series

This series is designed to assist customers that need to upgrade competitor filter housings. It is part of the Coralon series and provides an economical solution to consumers that are looking for advanced protection of critical system components but aren’t ready to change their filters to a Pall product.
