Marine Oil Purifiers

Improved Productivity with Oil Purifier Solutions

The importance of fluid maintenance:

Particulate contamination and water can have serious adverse effects on the physical and chemical properties of hydraulic and lubricant fluids.  These effects include accelerated oxidation or hydrolysis of the fluid base stock and premature depletion of additives due to additive precipitation or chemical reactions involving additives.  In many cases, the presence of free water in the fluid can be detrimental to proper system performance.

For marine operators, hydraulic, lubrication, and cooling fluids account for a significant part of annual operating costs.  Operators therefore require a process to extend fluid service life and also reduce the procurement and disposal costs due to waste fluids.

Detrimental effects of particulate contamination and water:

Fluid BreakdownCauseEffect on System
Physical Properties
  • Particulate contamination agglomeration and precipitation
  • Oxidation/hydrolysis products - gums and sludges
  • Reactions involving additives - sludges and solids
  • Free water
  • Component wear
  • Clogging of jets, nozzles and orifices; valve jamming
  • System malfunction due to icing from free water
  • Di-electric break down
Base Stock Degradation
  • Oxidation
  • Hydrolysis
  • Corrosion and surface degradation of components
Additive Depletion
  • Precipitation of additives
  • Adsorption by particulates
  • Reactions involving additives
  • Abnormal base stock degradation
  • Loss of component protection
  • Increased component wear and corrosion

The Pall fluid purifier provides a portable, environmentally friendly solution to remove free and dissolved water, gases, solvents, and particulate contamination, and thus extend fluid and component life. It also improves system performance and responsiveness.

Features

  • Removes 100% of free water and up to 80% of dissolved water
  • Removes 100% of free and entrained gases and up to 80% of dissolved air/gases
  • Easy to connect, simple to operate, and requires minimum operator attention
  • Operates under vacuum conditions without heating the fluid
  • Simple automated operation
  • Remote monitoring option
  • High performance water, gas and particulate removal

Particulate removal is achieved by using a high-performance Beta rated (ßX(c)>2000) element to polish the fluid before it’s discharged back into the system reservoir. Pall oil purifiers can be moved from one system to another or left as a permanent installation. The automatic controls are integral to the unit that constantly monitors the operation and will safely shut down the system if the fluid levels and pressures indicate abnormal limits.

Pall oil purifiers solutions are designed to be robust and reliable under the most difficult conditions. All components are easy to maintain, and the filter elements are readily accessible.
