Chemical Final Product Liquid Filtration Solutions Remove Solid and Liquid Contaminants and Meet Critical Service Requirements
Pall offers superior final product filtration solutions to the chemical industry to remove solid and liquid contaminants, such as catalyst, corrosion products, water, liquid byproducts, unreacted feedstocks and pipe scale.
The Chemical Processing Industry produces a wide range of products that become feedstocks for the synthesis of more complex materials. It also produces final products sold in the marketplace. Before to leaving the site, products are often treated to remove solid and liquid contaminants that can reduce yield and product quality, as well as foul and erode distribution and other process equipment, including pumps, nozzles, piping and meters reactors, heat exchangers, contactor towers, distillation columns, engines and boilers. Contaminated feedstocks can reduce reaction rates and yields. They can also lead to off-specification final products that may not meet customer or market requirements for clarity or cleanliness. Superior final product solutions are required to avoid these problems.Pall offers superior final product filtration solutions to the chemical industry to remove solid and liquid contaminants, such as catalyst, corrosion products, water, liquid byproducts, unreacted feedstocks and pipe scale.
Pall provides a wide variety of filtration products and liquid/liquid and liquid/gas coalescer elements. These elements are contained in specially designed vessels optimized for critical service requirements. Pall’s final filtration products remove contaminants in the nano-, ultra- and micro-filtration range and separate free liquid contaminants such as waters, oils, acids and caustics.
Profile® II Filter Elements
These all-polypropylene elements have an absolute-rated downstream section. A continuously graded pore size upstream section increases service life. This durable product can be applied in a wide range of corrosive and non-corrosive fluids. No binder resin is used – the fibers are “bonded” by intertwining during the manufacturing process. As a result, Profile II filters show no media migration.
The Profile II filter has numerous applications in a broad range of chemical industries. They are used as both prefilters and as final filters.
Profile® A/S Series Filter Elements
These filters are constructed of an all polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) filter medium with 316 L stainless steel cores. The elements have an absolute rated downstream section, and a continuously profiled pore size upstream section, to increase service life. The elements are available in a broad range of absolute removal ratings. The fibers in Profile A/S filters are continuous and meet the specifications for biological tests listed in the current revision of USP for Class VI plastics at 121 °C. Because of the inertness of the polyphenylene sulfide medium, Profile A/S elements can be used with many fluids up to 400° F (205 °C).
PhaseSep® Coalescer
Superior liquid and particulate removal efficiency reduces incidents of off-spec product as well as costly corrosion problems in downstream equipment. Due to the PhaseSep coalescer’s long life and superior liquid removal efficiency, the overall cost of contaminant removal is low.
The high performance PhaseSep system stack design promotes even flow distribution permitting a high rate of flow. As a result, fewer separator cartridges are required, creating a small economic assembly size. With the combination of the PhaseSep coalescer and Pall’s specially designed horizontal housing, the PhaseSep system has separated liquid/liquid emulsions with an IFT greater than 0.5 dyne/cm. Conventional coalescers begin to rapidly lose separation efficiency when the IFT gets below 20 dyne/cm.
Ultipleat® High Flow Filter System
The filter is a large diameter, coreless, single open ended, pleated cartridge with an inside-to-outside flow pattern. The filter features unique crescent-shaped pleat geometry, large 152.4 mm (6 inch) diameter and a proprietary range of available Pall filter media. These features mean you can use significantly fewer filters and smaller housings for high flow rate applications. Systems can handle up to 115,443 lpm (30,500 gpm).
Profile® UP Filters
With 63.5 mm (2.5 in.) diameter pleated polypropylene cartridges, the absolute-rated filter medium is constructed using Pall's proprietary method of varying fiber diameter continuously to create a tapered pore filter medium. The pressure drop of the Profile UP filters is as low as half that of higher area pleated filters.
Profile UP filters provide exceptional service life. Profile UP filters consist of Pall's Ultipleat® filters utilizing Profile depth filter media. These filters are thicker than conventional pleated filters and are optimized for gel removal and sharp, distinct particle removal. They are ideal for viscous fluids and dispersions.
