Particulate Filtration / Prefiltration Solutions
For particulate filtration or prefiltration prior to a liquid/liquid coalescer, Ultipleat® High Flow and Marksman™ filters reliably remove scale, rust, and solid particles.
The final products of an oil refinery include LPG, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, and kerosene. These products are stored in a tank farm at the refinery or in remote distribution terminals prior to delivery to retail markets. The products are usually filtered and coalesced before leaving the refinery or terminal to remove solid contaminants such as rust and pipe scale, as well as suspended water and achieve a ‘clear and bright’ quality specification. If not removed, the particulate contaminants can foul and erode customer equipment, while water causes engine maintenance problems by extracting highly corrosive sulfur compounds and chlorides, exacerbating corrosion and plugging in engine injection systems.
The Ultipleat High Flow filter is a large diameter, coreless, single open ended, pleated cartridge with an inside-to-outside flow pattern. The filter's unique crescent-shaped pleat geometry, combined with its large 152.4 mm (6 inch) diameter and proprietary range of available Pall filter media, allows for the use of significantly fewer filters and smaller housings for high flow rate applications.
Marksman™ filters offer large cartridge geometry with high flow capacity. Poly-Fine® II proprietary media deliver highly consistent filtration.
A range of absolute and nominal rated filter elements is available to reduce suspended solids to <5 ppmw, meeting particulate quality requirements. Pall filter products offer efficient removal of solids, freedom from off-spec shipments, lower operating costs, and extended life of liquid/liquid coalescers.
Suspended water can be removed from fuel to concentrations as low as 15 ppm with Pall AquaSep® XS liquid/liquid coalescers. The AquaSep XS liquid/liquid coalescers reliably meet "clear and bright" product specifications and 15 ppmv downstream per Aqua-Glo measurement. These coalescers do not disarm in the presence of known surfactants (i.e., they are extremely efficient for “high detergent” fuels). They are effective on "difficult" water/fuel mixtures with interfacial tension lower than 20 dynes/cm. They also offer long service life, lowering disposal and maintenance costs.Refiners are able to maintain production and quality, and easily process difficult hazy final product runs.
Pall's refinery final product filters and coalescers systems reliably support daily production quotas and customer quality requirements. For more information, click here to see purchase information or talk to a Pall expert.
