Preventing untimely downtime and delays
Vent Filters minimize corrosive and deadly gases in critical core venting systems contained in a nuclear power plants emergency system.
Nuclear power plants are susceptible to costly downtime without well thought out emergency power supplies. Incorrect vent filtering can cause highly radioactive gases to be released from ruptured ductwork and in turn cause safety equipment to fail and impede efforts by plant workers responding to the accident. The result, if left unchecked, is reduced reliability of critical equipment, unscheduled downtime and an increase in maintenance and repair costs.
Emergency vent filtration provides gas refinement when needed during a containment event. Pall Vent Filters minimize noxious gases in nuclear containment vent systems to protect workers and the core itself. In the event of the postulated catastrophic event – effective filtration is critical to contain the radioactive and deadly gas.

Ultipor® GF Plus filters medium uses a binder resin which coats the glass fibers, imparting a positive zeta potential in aqueous service. The resin also bonds the glass fibers to a polyester substrate, producing a rugged composite medium. Applications for such filters are numerous as most suspensions are negatively charged in aqueous solution, including not only particles but bacteria, viruses, and gases. Some Ultipor GF Plus filter grades efficiently remove sub-microscopic haze.
Pall Nuclear Vent Filters keep emergency venting systems working properly. Click here to let a Pall expert help ensure proper emergency system performance during nuclear plant’s catastrophic events.
